Our History
At 150 years old, Grotto Raffael is one of the oldest and most typical grotti in Ticino, and still serves traditional Ticino dishes. With its fantastic terrace in the shade of huge, centuries-old plane trees, it is the ideal place for hot summer days. A small playground also makes it perfect for families. In the spring and autumn months we have a large indoor hall (for up to 60 persons) warmed by an old fireplace.
Hospitality, passion and commitment are the cornerstones of our grotto.

Swiss Miniature
On Saturday 13 May, the third new model of the 2023 season was unveiled at the Swissminiatur. The Grotto Raffael in Losone – Ticino, one of the oldest and most typical grottos in Canton Ticino, is in fact the first Ticino grotto within the park.
During the unveiling of the model, accompanied by the cheerful music of a band, participants were able to admire the numerous details that make up the miniature. The 1:25 scale model also faithfully depicts the terrace in the shade of the ancient plane trees and the children’s playground. Inside, complete with furnishings, there is also an antique fireplace. A job of meticulous precision carried out by Swissminiatur’s team of decorators.
The combination of the decorators’ dexterity and the aid of the 3D printer enabled the interior and exterior furnishings of the new miniature.
